I am so dang thrilled to be playing this show with some of my favorites here in Boulder!
We have some sweet surprises in store for you, so please come on out! This is going to be a good one!
Carolyn Hunter from the Heartstring Hunters:
Nominated by Denver Westword for Best Folk Band, The Heartstring Hunters are a 5-piece indie-folk-rock band from Boulder, Colorado with a debut CD release hot off the press. Their self-titled EP was recorded at Wind Over The Earth Studios in Longmont, CO, and has been well received by KGNU, The Marquee, and Denver Westword along with thousands of fans on the front range and all over the globe.
The Heartstring Hunters are currently touring throughout Colorado and the West, sharing stages with artists such as SHEL, The Good Lovelies, The Dead Horses, Karla Bonoff, The Leftover Cuties and MINER. They recently performed at Pagosa Folk'n Bluegrass Festival, Telluride MountainFilm Fest, The Boulder Theater, and the TedX conferences in Denver, though you’re just as likely to find them spontaneously entertaining crowds at farmer’s markets and street fairs all over the state. All east-coasters originally, it was the power of connection and a love for music that led them from the forests of Vermont, the rivers of Virginia, and the beaches of Florida all the way to the Rockies.
His 2016 album, The Kindness of Strangers, was inspired by the connection and common bond of humanity that he found touring across the US in 2015. The album's «spare, acoustic, [and] infectious» sound landed Donovan an Honorable Mention at the 2016 Lyons Folks Fest Songwriter Contest and an appearance in American Songwriter Magazine.
Donovan has performed at dozens of music venues and festivals across the country, including Boulder International Film Festival, Rockwood Music Hall, Swallow Hill Music, and eTown Hall. His clear, pure tenor is his signature instrument, and often draws praise from critics:
Alexa Wildish’s deep love for folk music, classically-trained voice, and awe-struck way of perceiving the world merged to become her inaugural and soul-driven progressive folk band by the name of Wildish. After producing two E.P’s and one Single, Alexa’s musical evolution led her to Boulder, Colorado where a series of life’s circumstances prompted profound personal and musical growth. In her new material, under her full name, one can sense the evolvement of feminine power that drives her mesmerizing vocals, direct lyrics, and her raw musical exploration on mandolin, octave mandolin and both acoustic and electric guitar. Her voice has been compared to the folk and soul sounds of Joni Mitchell, Eva Cassidy, and Laura Marling. She has played in renown venues such as eTown Hall and the StarHouse and is one of a few carefully chosen musicians asked to perform at the Boulder Film Festival in February 2018. Watch for her new album, yet to be named, scheduled to be released in 2018.
For this show, Alexa will also be joined for a few tunes by the very talented Russell Durham on violin and the wonderful Sam Armstrong Zickefoose on Banjo!
Show starts at 8:00 pm <3
