Come check out part of the course for the only marathon in Denver! Your Colfax Marathon Ambassador Team will be onhand for some fun training miles with cool race gear.
After the free fun run, we'll have a runner panel Q&A with Brittany Charboneau, 2017 Women's Colfax Marathon Champ & Record Holder, and Patrick Rizzo, 2016 Colfax Marathon winner.
There will also be food and drink specials, plus the first 50 attendees receive an art print by a local Colfax artist.
Runner Panel Q&A with:
Brittany is a Colorado native, grew up in Lakewood, attended Mullen High School and graduated from CSU (go rams!). She got her running career start at age 13 in middle school, where she ran a super average 1 Mile (her words). Following middle school she ran track and cross country all four years as a pretty average runner (still her words). She walked on the cross country team her junior year at Colorado State University in 2008. Following college she started running marathons, but it wasn’t until recently that she really started to hit her stride. This past May, Brittany won and set a new course record in the Colfax Marathon, a feat that has meant the most so far in her running career. She most recently won the Kansas City Marathon on October 21st, 2017.
In addition to her running she is also pursuing comedy and acting full time. She has only been doing comedy for a few years, but thanks to her drive and motivation for running she knows she has what it takes to pursue this other passion as well. She performs regularly around Denver in addition to her marathon training. For this reason, she calls herself a «Funny Runner» as her profession.
Brittany recently became sponsored by fellow Colorado-native company OtterBox, and thanks to her coach Jenni Nettik with Mercuria Running, she’s looking forward to continue training towards her goal of qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials!
Patrick is one of the most decorated and versatile distance runners in the United States. He has top 10 finishes at U.S. Championship distances for 8K, 20K, the half-marathon, and the marathon. He is a three-time Olympic Trials qualifier in the marathon and set his marathon personal best of 2:13:42 at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Houston in 2012, finishing 13th. Internationally, he has had top finishes in the London Marathon (12th), the Ohme 30K in Tokyo, Japan (3rd), and when representing Team USA at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he finished 8th. During his distinguished career, Patrick has been the champion of a number of road races including half-marathon victories in Denver, Seattle, and his native Chicago. His half-marathon personal best is 64:20. In 2016, he won the Colfax Marathon in Denver. This year Patrick turned his attention to trail running and immediately had success winning the Nebraska Trail Run Half-Marathon and setting a course record. Patrick lives and trains at altitude in Colorado Springs and is a Skechers Performance sponsored athlete.
