Concerns about body image touch all women in some way due to the extreme pressure from media and society to meet modern beauty standards. Unfortunately, the shame of not looking like the images of perfection we see around us has deleterious effects on our self-worth, empowerment, creativity, and inner peace.
This wounding is so deep and pervasive for women that we cannot tackle the shame by ourselves. We must come together to support one another in creating a compassionate relationship with our bodies and a deeper knowledge of who we really are beyond this physical body. In the celebration of our spirit and our humanity, we can honor our feminine natures and the beautiful bodies that give us this opportunity to be fully alive.
Due to the sensitive nature of this topic, we are making this workshop for WOMEN ONLY so that they feel safe to share in an intimate manner. We apologize to any men that need this workshop or feel that they would personally benefit. We understand that you're out there, and we honor you. You are encouraged to contact me (Kelley Neumann) individually if I can be of any service through private sessions.
More information on the series:
In this series, we open a conversation around incredibly challenging topics that we, and our society, typically cast into the shadows of shame. Many of us are carrying a story, a belief or a secret that makes us feel ‘less than’, unworthy, or shameful. So we hide that part of ourselves, fearful we will be exposed to judgement or potential rejection.
Many of the subjects we will discuss are identified as shameful by societal, religious, familial, or other influences outside of ourselves. Through lively discussion, we will dive into the judgements and beliefs cast by these influences, and break down the wall that keeps us from sharing these life experiences with others. Let’s come together to share our own stories, discuss the burden of hiding our secrets, and support one another in moving from a place of shame to acceptance.
Future conversations will be centered around shame as it relates to other topics, including sexuality and addiction. We are very open to adding or changing topics as attendees desire.
Our intentions for this series are to:
• Break down the wall of shame that keeps us from sharing these life experiences and hiding parts of ourselves.
• Provide a safe space to share our voice and vulnerability around challenging topics.
• Inspire courage to move stories from our shadow or shame space into a place of acceptance.
• Share in our humanity to increase compassion for ourselves and others.
• Deeply connect with one another and build genuine intimacy by seeing each other fully.
The MeetUps (https://meetup.com/Spiritually-Human/) will be every other Tuesday beginning on June 13. Please join us in these powerful conversations that we hope will inspire deep connection, healing, and self-acceptance.
We ask for a $5-10 donation from each of you to cover the cost of renting the space.
This series will be facilitated by Kelley Neumann (Kelley-Neumann.com) and Nicole Kemp. Nicole is one of our treasured members and is stepping up into a leadership role to support the group and each of you!
