Denver's own Space Orphan brings their «progressive old school» funk to Tony P's 17th Avenue on Feb. 16.
Their newest release, «Shut Up About The Sun,» has been praised for bringing a modern take to the classic soul-funk sound, while drawing comparisons to bands like Parliament Funkadelic, Soulive, Lettuce. It was even nominated as one of the Top 20 Funk Albums of 2016 by Funkatopia, alongside Lettuce, Tribe Called Quest, New Mastersounds, Kendrick Lamar, and other modern day funk giants. Touched with a bit of psychadelia, Space Orphan's new record brings «a strutting and swaggering bit of futuristic funk» that keeps the dance-floor busy.
And their live show? Phsh. Can you say «crushing?» They are gonna blow the roof off the joint on February 16 with a big ol' party, and you're invited.
Where: Tony P's, 777 East 17th Ave., Denver, CO 80203
